Theres a special place in my heart for the weeping willow as I remember seeing them drooping over river Avon in the centre of Christchurch, New Zealand where I grew up. As a child I remember people sitting under them enjoying picnics and always smiling. Their curtain like branches and leaves form a peaceful oasis where people can take refuge from the busyness of life and I have always felt relaxed around these spectacular trees. They love to grow near water so the abundance of aquatic wildlife and presence of water adds to the serenity surrounding these mighty trees.
